Light blogging is growing fast

Twitter the micro-blogging site needs no introduction. Like Google, Amazon and Facebook, Twitter is also an element of Internet. Micro-Blogging may be a new concept but blogging is not.

Blogging has been in the market for quite some time now. Blogger and Wordpress have ruled that market but now we have light blogging concept which means that we want only the blog with some social element and no complicated operations. Tumblr and Posterous are two big players in that market now.

Blogger has the JavaScript support advantage. While Wordpress don't offer that in free. On the other hands Tumblr and Posterous focus only on post and social. So they become a light blogging tool. So you are not thinking of making money out of your blog, Tumblr is the best site to get your blog on.

Enterprises have also started using Tumblr and not Wordpress as they were doing earlier. Wordpress have been enterprise choice for many years but now Tumblr making growth in that sector. Blogger is more of a personal blog choice with the best feature for an individual to have a free blog. But when it comes to a professional blog Wordpress has been the choice and now Tumblr challenging that position.

It may take many years to beat Wordpress but Tumblr has for sure emerged as an tough opponent.

Social Games essential elements of Social Networks, Email may become next essential element

Facebook mail will beat Gmail or not is a big question. But one thing is for sure that Email is now becoming the most essential part of the social networks. Ibibo, Itimes, MySpace, Facebook offers integrated email service in their social networks already and many other are ready to do so.

Social Games have become the most essential element of Social Networks. All social networks offer social browser games or apps to keep the user at their sites for a longer period of time. Now the same trend can be seen for the email service. Some Tech Gurus say that "email is dead" but i feel that traditional email is dead and there is a requirement of some new kind of email which is a bit social.

Social is the word that is more popular than web2.0 these days. The sites which are not social are on a decline. Big internet groups like Yahoo are looking towards new entrant Facebook and Twitter to survive. Now Facebook has launched its own email service so it is very clear that email is also essential to complete the overall social structure.

Gmail is one of the most used Google product and now Facebook is targeting that market also. This trend of mail integrated with social has not been a success in the case of MySpace and Ibibo but can be a success in case of Facebook, as Facebook have equal crazy fans as Apple.

Who so ever win, Facebook Mail or Gmail, but social networks will not start integrating mail service.

Rockmelt – The new social web browser

Rockmelt the new web browser based on chromium is launched. You can get the browser invite by connecting it to your Facebook account. They have the target of one million in six months, so you can hope for the invite soon. They have kept monetizing as their second priority and concentrating right now to make it a hit. Its has following challenges:

1. Already we have browsers Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera fighting for the market share. It will be tough for Rockmelt to eat their share. Still one thing goes in their favor that they have ruled the browser market with Netscape earlier.

2. Flock (Chromium Based) and Epic Web Browser (Mozilla Based) have not made any significant progress and are quite similar to Rockmelt social browser.

I feel that it will be very tough for them to make any impact on other browsers. All major browser have made there own source like MS, Mozilla, Google, Apple and Opera where its use open source Chromium. We have seen that people feels that Google Chrome is the real browser and others are like replicas. Even these bars will slow them. So they need to make there own source and then can only have tough fight with them.

It has toolbar on both side: Left for friends and Right for sites. A big share button on top. It takes care of all social activity but do we need to be so social? Will the net users want a separate browser for their social activities? All this and more will be answered in six months.

Rediff Vs Indiatimes Vs Web18 : Indian Internet War

We have seen several internet wars in the past:

1. Netscape Vs Internet Explorer

2. MSN Vs Yahoo Vs Google

3. Facebook Vs My Space

4. Google Vs Bing

5. Facebook Vs Google [Which still continues]

But they all were in USA and we have never seen this to happen in India till now.

Today when i saw an advertisement in Times Of India showing Indiatimes getting more unique visitors than Rediff and Web18, smell like a new war will start soon. Actually this all happens because of report of Comscore showing Indiatimes over Rediff and Web18 in unique visitors and Web18 over Indiatimes and Rediff in terms of traffic.

Lets see on what front can they fight and who will emerge winner:

1. NEWS: News the most important service given by them. Indiatimes has an advantage that they have the leading newspaper Times Of India, Economic Times and Financial Times so people will prefer reading its online news. Web18 has leading news network woth CNBC and IBN so they may also lead over Rediff. With Rediff we have the advantage that its famous in US so they will be prefered in US which contributes most of the advertising revenues. My rank Indiatimes>>Web18>>Rediff.

2. Mail: Rediff is quite famous and their Rediffmail NG has proved to be one of the best mail service on Mobile at Rs 50. In.com Mail is also good enough and people will like it after they use but it needs to gain market. In.com Mail has done quite an advertising so may be we see it growing. Indiatimes Mail is below standard and even they pay no attention to it. My rank Rediff>>Web18>>Indiatimes.

3. Search: Rediff is light so a preferred home page of many and will go under a seach deal. While other two: Web18 and Indiatimes, have a partnership with google. My rank Rediff>>Web18>>Indiatimes.

4. Social: Rediff has “My Page” which needs revamp. Inditimes has Itimes which has integrated mail service but lacks chat. Web18 has no presence in this area. My rank Indiatimes>>Rediff>>Web18.

According to me its going to be tough fight among them and Rediff seems to be emerging as a winner.

My Rank:

1. Rediff (which may be Google of India)

2. Indiatimes (which may be MSN of India)

3. Web18 (Which may be Yahoo of India)

Rediff focusing back to India

It is very essential to have market in US for a Internet company to be in profit since most of the advertisement spendings comes from there. Indian companies like Rediff kept their focus on NRI to earn the market share in USA.

But with there mobile approach India has emerged as the most important market and now they have their focus primary on India. With the launch of Rediffmail NG they have shown that they will now provide push mail type service on mobile and will try to best Yahoo and Google using this kind of service at Rs. 50.

It will be interesting to see that where does this new Mobile focus approach take them. Still according to me it is the most impressive launch done by Rediff in recent time. They use to be famous among students but lost there market share later. It can be a come back move by them. Still i will say that Rediff should launch a social site as social sites going to give all facilities in future and will be the all in one integrated Internet solution.

So sites which are social will only survive and rest will have to loose their market share. Its already started with the rise of Facebook and Twitter, and fall of Yahoo and Aol.

Facebook Vs Google War II – Facebook Mail will eat GMail?

Facebook Vs Google War I: Won by Facebook by beating Orkut, Buzz and Wave.

Facebook Vs Google War II:

GMail is very popular in India like all other products of Google. Indian net users are bigger fan of Google than they are of Apple. But Facebook has made an equal place among Indian users by offering quality social network. So, we can say that India will accept Facebook Mail as the primary mail address.

Plus points for Facebook Mail:

1. Every social network user has a Facebook ID.

2. Indians love Facebook as much as they love Google.

Negative points for Facebook Mail:

1. GMail is used in corporate and government in India so replacing it will be tough.

2. Offices and Colleges have Facebook blocked so no access to Facebook Mail.

3. Facebook Mail is attach to social network so many will not like to compromise on its privacy.

I feel that this time Google will win the war as war is fought in the Google arena (as GMail is the fastest growing mail service). Unlike the War I which was fought in AOL arena (MySpace) so Facebook looked more serious player than Orkut. If this time Facebook Mail beats Google Mail than Facebook will become unbeatable.

Future of Rediff

Rediff is one of the oldest internet company in India. Rediffmail and Rediffbol are one of the most popular mail service and chat messenger in the history, respectively. But in the last four years company has seen only downfall but recently they have seen the upside. The reason for reduction in loss is mainly because of their new move to enter into mobile.

At the beginning of 2010, when Rediff revamped there homepage and mail service, it was for sure they have mobile as the main focus. And with the recent revamped Rediffmail NG and new push mail service at Rs. 50 shows that they will now be more mobile.

The idea of Rediff going mobile is good for the future keeping in mind that India has more mobiles than computer and laptops. Also 3G will boost the web on mobile with range of smart-phones in the market. Rediff use to be popular among the students and hence targeting mobile might help them to stay with Facebook and Gmail which has become the web youth icons.

Rediff has realize the fact that “For rediff to win, there is no need for google and facebook to loose” . Hence all three can survive with their next generation products.

Zorpia: An emerging social network – A Review

Zorpia is the social network build by Mr. Jeffrey. Zorpia has a unique verifying way, each user need to get his picture holding his user name in his hand. Zorpia is one of the fastest emerging social network with some good features and some features missing.

Good Features:

1. Social Games: Its has a gaming section where we have several games. Its not as good as Facebook but better than the rest.

2. Music: This section is unique as not seen in any social network. The “Most Played” section is cool as it helps to get an idea what others are listening.

3. Photo Tool: One of the best photo tools. After status update, Photo is the most important part of social activity.

Features Missing:

1. Private Space: All data is of the Zopians, but we need data mostly of our friends . More work need to be done on that.

2. Too Heavy: Zorpia need to learn the lesson from others (Both Google and Facebook got the early advantage because they were the lightest and hence fastest in search engine and social network respectively).

3. Require Revamped: The looks are too confusing and we need to scroll a lot to get our essential things unlike Facebook where we get all things handy.

I hope “fokfok” is reading this and will improve the overall Zorpia.

Rediffmail revamped: Rediffmail NG – The NEXT GENERATION

Rediff is all set to make a comeback and get all users back from Ymail and Gmail. Rediff with the launch Rediffmail NG provide a cheap push mail at Rs.50.

Good Points of Rediffmail NG:

1. Faster and Sleek: With the use of Ajax its now faster and better service. Its sleek design give a feel of faster and easy to use look.

2. Send SMS: Now you can send SMS from your inbox, no need to go to any specific site to send sms.

3. Themes: Like Gmail themes, now Rediffmail also have a collection of themes.

4. Tab Features: Like Ymail tab feature, we can easily do multi-tasking using tab feature of Rediffmail.

5. Auto-Forward Mail: Now you can forward all your mails to another email id automatically.

6. Push Mail: Not at just Rs.50 you can get the push mail on your Microteck phone. Even on Android, Blackberry and Symbians etc.

In short, Rediff has worked well and combine some useful features from Gmail and Ymail. Rediffmail is now ready to compete with them in the market.

Bad Points of Rediffmail NG:

1. Compatibility Issue: It works well on IE 8, Firefox 3.6.10, Chome 7, Flock 3 and Epic 1.1 but have design issues in Opera 10.63. Hope will rectified soon.

2. Chat within Inbox Missing: Chat from Inbox is one of the feature in demand these days as we cannot waste time in installing the chat messenger on every system (home and office) we use. Gmail chat got so popular that Google stop working on Gtalk.

3. Lab Feature Missing: People needs to do experiment and want something new. Gmail gives them with the new feature every week and also give them a choice to use or not. This helps Google to analyze the user preference and work on that. Also give a choice to user to select what he wants. This should be included.

All these features are a requirement of next generation so hope that will be included soon.

United States VS Indian Internet Companies

I thought of comparing the US internet companies with Indian internet companies. There is no comparison between them as US companies earn lots more and are more innovative where as Indian companies are lazy and less innovative. The comparison is done by selecting a US internet company and comparing it with the Indian internet company having similar traits.

1. MSN VS SIFY: Both company consider they internet business as secondary and most of the revenue comes from other business. Still MSN takes lots of effort in making internet business profitable with its product like Windows Live, Hotmail and Bing. Where as Sify has a deal with google for Mail and Search, hence focus only on news. Since there are better news sites so Sify will not survive long where as Microsoft's MSN will emerge as one of the leader in Internet industry and profit making business with its aggressive product line up.

2. YAHOO VS INDIATIMES: Both of them are more of a portal with news, local content and services, Indiatimes runs on its news content and Yahoo has popular mail service. Both are a brand and has a high reach to the consumer. Yahoo is searching for a partner that brings some more value to the site so that they can enter and dominate in different areas of online services. Whereas Indiatimes is happy with there business are in no mood to do experiment that might make them less innovative and may lose the market share.

3. GOOGLE VS REDIFF: Both were the startups. Google started when internet was penetrating US and Rediff when internet started its penetration in India. Google turn out to be the biggest global internet company where as Rediff became popular in India but from last four years losing its market. Rediff lost its market share not only because Google's Gmail and Orkut were gaining popularity but also Rediff kept on sleeping and did not brought innovation at the right time. Rediff was lazy and did not brought Chat within Inbox and a social network. If Rediff has done that they must have beaten Google.

4. AOL VS IN: Both the companies work as the subsidy. Both have a good mail service which may turn out there strongest point. IN has one of the best news network where as AOL has bought many startups like tech blog TechCrunch. IN has the potential to be one of the global internet company if it continue to put innovations.

5. FACEBOOK VS IBIBO: There are several social network but lets compare the US company Facebook which is global number one (and also number one in India) and Indian (JV of China and Brazil) Ibibo which is most popular Indian social networking site in India. Both of them give several apps and has chat features. Ibibo has integrates mail, so Facebook has better seach technology to connect the people to friends, brands and adds. Facebook is more innovative and owner is 25 years old so you can understand the aggressive nature of this site. Facebook has given Google and Yahoo a run for their money and market. Whereas Ibibo has not made such a big impact. Facebook connect and integration is used by several sites including Yahoo and Windows Live and even Ibibo whereas Ibibo so not have any such integrations and popularity.

Next Step: Integration of email in Social Network

Facebook and Twitter became popular because they brought innovations like Real Time Update that redefines the way of social networking. Twitter is still busy in bringing new ways to make money. Such spirit of innovation makes them the new leader of Internet which was earlier dominated by Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL (News Corp).

But what next. We may see that now we see integration of services with Social Network.

1. Think you get the facility to check mail either @facebook.com or @ymail.com, by login your facebook account. Integration of email account is possible soon. Myspace, Ibibo and Itimes already have this facility.

2. May be we see new apps coming and apps no longer be called games and quizzes. We may see Mail, Maps, Search, blogging etc. apps so that we can use them from sitting at our social network.

There might be much more innovative things happing to social networks. I am so confident that there have to be some more innovative thing happening soon is due to recent rapid changes in social networks.

1. Lets begin with MySpace: We use to add friends and send them messages, get there birthday reminders and join some groups.

2. Then came Orkut: Lets users send some open messages knows as "Scraps" which can be read by others friends and social life became more open.

3. Now Facebook: They gave the plateform to update our status which is dispayed on ever friend's page so they are not require to visit each one profile to know what happening and all of them comment sitting at there own home page. Its make the web "Real Time" which is the hottest topin on internet. Facebook also brought the trends of apps like Apple did in mobile phones. As apps start making huge profit from the add revenue, this concept become very popular. Now all major social networks have these apps.

Now this is very clear that you need to bring something new and innovative to survive in the world of social network.

Email registration at India.com reopens on 25th October

In response to query, India.com informed that the registration for their mail service will reopens on 25th of October. Recently they were not accepting any new registration due to the ongoing process of their email service revamp. Now it will be interesting to see that what we get once this service get revamped. I am hoping lots more services like In.com. Web 18 gives lots of innovative services in its mail inbox like future mail, apps, etc.

Now Internet depends on four major growth driver: Mail, Social, Search and News. Most of Indian Internet companies focuses on News and Email. I hope that they will realize the importance of social network and will make one or fund the startups. In the near future we may see more Indian startups in the market due to increase in the Internet penetration in India.

Indiatimes mail do not have the rich version working

Now when Internet companies are focusing more on social, Email, News, Search and going Mobile, Indiatimes is missing this driver of growth. They have brought innovation to their offerings but if they lag behind the main growth drivers then will lose the growth momentum.

When social networks like MySpace and Ibibo are integrating their social web with email facility then how could Indiatimes do not take its email seriously. Yahoo, which also have news as one of the main growth driver, also focus on its email then why Indiatimes do not take it that seriously. Rediff also make the mark because of its email service and later news. Now Rediff has lost its market share due to lack of focus on its email service.

Indiatimes offer only basic HTML version of email (as its rich version do not work). In this era where we want more than just email, this will not be able to make a mark. Their social networking site, Itimes, offers integrated social and email facility is not at all popular. They have the largest selling daily, business and weekly newspaper but do not publicize their products. Indiatimes Mail has no potential if they do not work to improve it.

Indiatimes has a huge amount of potential as they are very popular among news reader but they need to make their product well equipped to hold the users as they have whole lots of potential to attract the user to use their product at least once.

Rediff and Sify are you listening, its the time to get listed

Usually it is said that company get listed when they need money but more money is never a bad (Info-edge knows it best). So Indian web companies should get listed on Stock Exchanges in India. This will not only give them money but also make them sounding familiar company. It has been seen that the listed company become more popular in consumer segment and its easy for them to expand. Enterprises also prefer the solutions and services from the listed company as they can trust more on them.

Hence its the perfect time for Rediff and Sify to get listed like other Indian web companies like Info-edge, 123greetings.com, etc. This will not only give them cash but will make them popular among the Indian Enterprises.

Rediff should utilize cash gain from IPO in:

1. Improving "Rediffmail" service

2. Building a good search engine (or having a tie-up in search which can earn them more cash)

3. Improve "Rediff Page" and make it more social.

4. Utilize in services like Blog, Song Buzz, Maps, etc.

Apna Circle Revamp: New look is better and faster

Apna Circle Pvt. Ltd. JV with Viadeo-Tianji runs a career networking site “apnacircle“. Apna Circle has been revamp today. Now its faster and sleek. The look is more organized and easy to use interface is implemented. Earlier we need to discover new features by surfing which earn a point but in return we loose time, but now they all are in front of our eyes and very handy to use.

LinkedIn which is the global best in career networking is very heavy to use but have plenty of features that make it the best. Since Apnacircle is Indian local site will not make that big impact globally but if given good features then it may gain share in India because of being lighter. Indian has lesser penetration of broadband and hence faster up-loadable sites are preferred especially in colleges where the speed is very low. Remember that career networking start from college so it can be very important.

ApnaCircle when launched in 2006 was advertised and later 2008-09 when it merged with Viadeo-Tianji, after that its not so very few know about it and its profit. Ibibo which has gain a name because of its aggressive advertisement on television. Even Google, Yahoo and Bing use TV as an important medium to advertise in USA. Here in India, Yahoo, Rediff, Ibibo and Zapak has used it and hence they are popular in urban areas in India and make money. In.com also because of its aggressive marketing gain market share over Rediff in India. Thus marketing is the best way to earn. Till the time you do not invest you will not be paid for that.

ApnaCircle and other indian start-ups need to realize this and should start marketing there product and get listed to stock exchange like InfoEdge, TIL etc

Green Ganesh - A new spirit of festival

When people say that the grandness of the festival is reduced because of the environment ministry. I ask them that they like Ganesha statue going in dirty water. I ask them that they like the sea to be so bad that not only fishes dies but also Ganesha says that he do not want to go inside that. I feel that no one want to make the sea dirty and will follow the go green revolution.

Environment is very big issue today and is even bigger to food security. As food security can be achieved by increasing the productivity but saving environment requires a long term planning and measures have to be taken today to save tomorrow. So, effort of making festivals green is surely a good step and should be appreciated.

Earlier we do not use to have such a large population and damages to the environment can be heal itself but now due to large population damages to environment are bigger so we need to take measure to heal them and also to control any further damage. So, making festival green not only bring a new spirit but also makes us secure from any environment trouble.

Ozone layer is healing its hole by himself as 200 countries have band the CF gases. Such steps are appreciated and give benefits to society after sometime. Hence the steps taken today to celebrate festivals in a greener way will make future more brighter and better.

In the end, I will say that celebrate festival in a way that the happiness last long and that can be achieve by taking the steps that helps to make Earth a better place to live in a longer run.

Zorpia - Emerging Social Network OR Spamster

Zorpia is the social networking site of China now going global. Its the site that is gaining market in India. Last month, according to Comscore PerfSpot was top 10 social network in India which was a surprise for all internet news networks. I feel that this time its going to be Zorpia.

Tactic used by Zorpia:
1. When ever you invite any of your friend Zorpia start spamming there mail boxes by sending invites more than trice a day.
2. Several people (more than 5/day) will send you request whom you do not know.
These all tactics look like use by a spammer.

I am writing this blog as Zorpia gets most of its traffic from India. Since India is the key market for them and Indian cares a lot about there privacy and security, they need to be more careful.

Since it is the startup by a youngster Jeffrey in 2003 when he was in college (Like Facebook story but not a similar success story) and now he is 27. But the team managing it looks litter bit weak and needs to work harder to reduce spams and upgrade security to make there site a better place to have a social networking.

Indiatimes' mail service shut down for two days because of security update

Indiatimesmail is undergoing some security update which is good but because of that reason it is not working properly for last two days and this problem will continue till 19th as the official mail by indiatimes says. Due to this reason if someone is using it as a primary address for work or searching job, these days will be nightmare for them. This shows it is not serious about its mail service as other which are more popular as they are more serious about the mail service and hence trustworthy.

I would recommend that primary mail id should be on that site which has uptime 24X7 and do not shut down for any update. I would recommend that make primary id on one of these: Gmail, Yahoo mail, Hotmail, Aol, Rediffmail. Now a days in.com has emerged as the new serious contender so you can even have an id on this site as primary mail id.

If Indiatimes is not able to manage their email service well then they should outsource it like Sify had a partnership with Google to manage its mail service. This will help Indiatimes to concentrate on the news section which is the main base for them.

It was a surprise that they shut their mail service for two days for updating security as it was not expected from the third largest Indian internet company in terms of unique visitors. Indiatimes in the past have been in the race with Rediff to be India’s best internet company but they didn’t succeed in doing so and now Rediff and Indiatimes both declining together. I just don’t understand that why Indiatimes which is a lifestyle brand in India become a serious internet company in terms on email and social service.

Itimes have a flop because of the lack of publicity even being the largest selling print media. They had the potential for a good and cheaper publicity as being the best in print media but they didn’t went that way and lost somewhere in the race and is now weaker contender.

Indian Internet Industry needs to be social and mobile to make a global impact

We talk about broadband, 3G, 4G for better speed and internet in rural for better communication so that may also become a part of Indian growth but we do not talk about Indian internet industry. We are the best in IT sector but we do not have that place when it comes to internet companies. We have Banglore, Pune, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, etc as the IT city but these cities do not have much internet startups.

We have internet companies like Rediff, Web18, Indiatimes, Sify, Infoedge, 160by2, freshersworld and few more which are major Indian Internet companies but none of them had that global presence as US internet companies do like Google, Yahoo, AOL, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, LinkedIn and many more. Government should now work in this sector also as there is a huge scope for new startups in this field. This field also has a huge potential to give jobs and also help in growth of the nation.

I still remember that four years back Rediff use to be popular and compete with Yahoo and Google to get the unique visitors. But with the launch of Orkut, Gmail and GTalk, Rediff start losing its users. Rediff never realize the importance of social networking and now do no stand in front of Yahoo and Google, even Indian web company Web18’s in.com giving a huge competition to Rediff. Rediff and all other Indian companies still needs to understand that mail service is important to add new users who visit them regularly and social networking is important to make them spend time on your site and get the user visit your website several times a day.

Indian Internet Industry needs to understand that now mail and social both are very important to stand in the market and also they have to be innovative. Mobile apps are also very important as youth prefer mobile apps more than surfing through browser.

Indiatimes revamp its mail service

On September 17, 2010 indiatimes will revamps its mail service and will be interesting to see whats new they have. Indiatimes with itimes has shown interest in the social field but its not popular as lack of aggressive advertising which ibibo do.

Indiatimes is most popular for news at Times Of India and Economic Times portal. In.com is giving a tough fight to them at the news front as they are more popular in email category. In.com also put a aggressive add campaign like rediff and ibibo. Indiatimes has loose on that front even they have the leading newspaper which might help them to attract users.

But i am looking forward the new features that it will bring to its mail service. And lets see how they compete with other Indian web companies like Rediff, Sify, In.com, Ibibo, Zapak, India.com and others. I also wanna add that there is no chance that it can compete with giants like Google, Yahoo, Facebook and Twitter in India.

Revamps: Trend among most of the email services

These days most of the popular email services are getting their service revamps to attract the users and also move with the latest and current technology.

G Mail: It is the mail service that gets regular update. Every week a new feature is added. Latest is the Priority Inbox where the mails are sorted in real time as of importance or not. It is the first of its kind and very innovative idea.

Yahoo Mail: Its getting revamp soon to "minty" and will integrate twitter and facebook so that you can access such service from your inbox. Yahoo tried Pulse and Meme which were not so popular and do not have anything to attract the user. So finally yahoo has decided to use its popular mail service which is on the decline to attract user and hold them by giving facebook and twitter facility from their mail boxes.

Hotmail: Microsoft had a search deal with Yahoo to fight against the search giant-Google. Also MS has plan to stop the growing GMail by revamping hotmail this year. MSN has revamp hotmail to provide better facility and a faster email service. Earlier its use to have two version Full and Light. Now it has combined both together to give mix of speed and facility to its users. Hotmail being the world most used email service needs to be more advanced and provide regular update else Gmail like android will gain the market share.

Rediff Mail: Indian biggest internet company and its very popular email service Rediffmail was also revamp but i was unsatisfied as its really lack features and needs to be better to compete with other email services. Once its use to compete with Google and Yahoo in India but now its even struggle in front of indiatimes, sify and in(web18). Rediffmail needs a big revamp to attract new users and hold the existing.

Sify Mail: Sify had a deal with Google to power its mail service so it had all the facility that gmail has except the recent priority inbox but will soon get that also.

In.com: World shortest email id @in.com is becoming very popular in India as its has a different design and got revamp this year. Its fast and easy to use. Has a feature of Gmail, Ymail and Hotmail Preview. Also has a facility of providing the future date and time to the mail for delivery, this way your mail will be sent even if you are offline that time. This is call as "future mail".

India Mail: India Mail is the new to the market but is getting revamp and has stopped any new registration.

In the end i will say that it is always great to get revamp as its provide freshness to the users and also match up with the latest technology.

Yahoo! MeMe - new tool to compete with Twitter

Yahoo! Meme is like twitter but do not have anything special that it can get the market share from twitter. Twitter which has a simple interface and we can give 140 characters message. Meme is more complex and i prefer Pulse over Meme. So when Yahoo already have a better product i.e. Yahoo! Pulse, why they need to create Yahoo! Meme. Before launch i thought it be like a combination of Social Networking, Blogging and Gaming but i am disappointed that it is not so.

If Yahoo want to have a fight with Google, Facebook and Twitter, they need to be more creative and also aggresive else being only the best web based email service cannot save them for long.

Nothing is Good, Nothing is Bad

Today when it was raining and i was standing at my balcony i saw the train passing with engine blowing horn. I felp it nice, actually very nice. It was the same horn which anoid me always but i don't know why i felt it to be nice.

I realise that there is nothing good or bad in this world. Its all depends on which side we are. If you win sport, u say good but opponent felt bad, vice-a-versa. There are lots of such examples, think about them.

So i just wanna say that try to get the best learning experience from bad because at any time you may be standing on the other side that you will call good and other will say bad. So just keep the learning from bad as they will help you to hold good for the longer period of time.

Tensions in Kashmir

Two weeks earlier i with seven more were called to the show at NDTV 24X7 on the issue on Kashmir. I still remember that my parents told me that do not speak anything thats may create problems. This shows that how much fear is there in the valley. So people are unable to express what they really want to. Hence its become very important for the government to understand the requirement and feeling of the commoners.

Government talks about the development and economic welfare of the people but what about those children who dies by the fire of military. In the valley it is common to have curfews but that evening is unforgettable. I still gets my eyes wet when i remember that time when i was standing at my windows peeping outside to get the view of the world around. There was all of a sudden curfew called. Then i saw 10 children coming from the school and military saw that mass movement fire on them without getting a proper view and they all 10 children died. Now the point is that if this is the cost of the security then who wants it.

Government says that for development they want peace and hence they keep army in the valley. But my question is that how could you achieve development by stopping any movement of the common people. They say that we can divide J&K into Jammu and Kashmir by giving more power to Kashmir state government for the better development. I say yes do that and its a good solution but what about the problem of common people as they still need to face curfews in Kashmir. Valley will still be having more army men that citizens. Still the ice in the valley will be red. So common person living in valley wants peace but not at the cost of death of children.

Who says that we achieve peace by weapons and blood? Who has said that we can achieve freedom by killing? If government really looking forward in giving peace and development to the valley, they need to get the same solution as US use against those who look towards there land.

Terror can only be kill by the method of opt to start and i.e Education. Terror group wrongly educated people about their rights and the government negatives. Now the time is to deliver a better and correct eduction which not only tell people to move in the right direction in life but attain a financial status so that they are force to join or help terror groups.

Gmail domination over Ymail, Hotmail, Rediffmail

@gmail.com is the most popular mail id in India. Let me tell you it was launch when Indian population was dominated by @yahoo.co.in and @rediffmail.com. You will be surprise that orkut was also registered most by using these two. But later on its turn out to be the google dominated industry and @gmail.com the most popular and now maximum have their facebook account using @gmail.com.

The email company which is most effected is rediff as it was use to be popular among students due to its fast and light service fit for college and school labs. Second is Yahoo which was the primary official ID. Now GMAIL is used in both the fields: student and official.

The reasons for its popularity are:

1. Google dominates the Indian Internet Industry and most admire brand in
India above apple which is global most admired.

2. Gmail gets updated every week with new features that is of interest for the students who gets some thing new to work on. Whereas others come with a major update after a long time so they lack behind in technology and lost interest of the user.

3. Gmail uses best technology in the industry and always try to use the latest technology which makes it easier for the office use or corporate use,

4. Gmail face lots of attack but still the most secured email. Hence become the best choice for the government to make it as there primary mail ID.

Google with wide range of Internet focused product makes it the most admired brand and primary choice when we talk about the Internet products. The best example is the Chrome browser and Android Smart Phone which gained popularity due to the trust on Google and they are open source, free of cost availability.

Keep using google and keep updated to latest technology.

EPIC - first ever indian made internet browser (Made by Indian Made for Indian)

EPIC, which is the first ever made by India, made for Indian web browser, brings a new trend and believe in Indian web market that it has what it takes to be future biggest global web market.

Epic do not only have features that will go to his favor as it is made on Mozilla but also that it has many new features, apps, Indian personalization and themes. Maxthon is a popular Chinese browser but not that popular on global level, in the same way Epic has Indian consumer as its target.
The problem with Epic is that it is based on Mozilla so people will prefer Firefox and Flock on Epic. Also Flock is social browser which offer choice of Mozilla based (Flock 2.x.y) and Chromium based (Flock 3.x.y) while Epic has only a browser based on Mozilla which is outdated by Chromium and rest of Mozilla fans will prefer Firefox. So we need to have open source base software tool to build new type of browser.
Indian market may see many more such “first ever innovative” launches soon. As internet will be under the reach of many due telecom growth so we may see: Indian search company, rediffmail better, new docs apps and many more……

Fuel Price Hike - A positive step or a blunder

I heard people saying that the government of "Aam Aadmi" is bringing higher inflation raising the price of the Fuel and decontrolling it. I would like to lay down some general theory about that:

Bad effect of fuel price hike:

1. Higher inflation i.e. food will get expensive for the middle class as higher class its really affects and lower class gets food at cheaper rate by the Government.

2. Over burden on government to supply food to low class at the cheaper affordable price.

Benefits of Fuel Price Hike:

1. Transportation cost is high so local goods will get an edge in the market. This will led into expanding of local markets means more employment for the local people.

2. Lesser the use of fuel better for the environment.

Ill Effect of Decontrolling:

1. Company will decide there own rates at their own time, this will lead to uncertainty in the transportation cost which might result in losses in import and export business.

2. Government lose one parameter of controlling inflation.

Benefits of Decontrolling:

1. Government do not have burden of giving cheaper loans or stimulus to the oil companies.

2. This might result in competition between oil company to control their rates and give cheaper oil. This might bring options for consumer.

So, I hope you got my point that it has many advantages as well as disadvantages. It will be interesting to see the result of it which will effect not only people but the government which has won the hearts of people twice and hoping to win third time in 2014 Lok Shabha election as the LPG and Kerosene (which is used by "Aam Aadmi") is still kept lower than the market price and the price in other nations.

This also give us the moral that everything has a bad and a good side so we should look a the good side and stop our dependency on oil. Its not easy but if consumer demand company will provide them with solutions like CNG, Electric etc.

In the end, nothing can stop growth in such a fast technology growing country and such speed breakers (Fuel price hike) can only slow us down for a very short period of time and we know how to regain better growth.

Firefox 4 Beta 1 is the next generation of Mozilla browser

With the launch of Firefox 4 Beta 1, Mozilla starts with the new generation of browser and new look which is some what a combination of Opera and Chrome.

This new version was launch to get an advantage in the market which is shifting back to Internet Explorer as it gain more share in June which is the first time in recent years.

With the launch of IE9 it will be more interesting to see how the market swift as Microsoft is calling it the next generation browser.

Google with Chrome and Android is ruling the world so its gonna be a big fight for browser share. Wait and watch big improvements soon..............

Free Free Free - Thats the demand of Indian

Today when we buy any item we do not want to know how much fat it has or calorie it contains. We want to get some offer like Bingo has 50% Extra on Rs.5 pack or Vim bar free with Surf Excel.

The same trend can now be seen in the telecom sector. Uninor with "Badalta Discount" has brought the freeism to Telecom sector. Tariffs have been the tool that differentiate telecom from others as rate cuts don't come free of cost butut now its changed.

Uninor understanding the trend in Indians that they like free things so Uninor gave it a move with supplying something free. Now rates cut are variable but free. This "Free" is really important for Indian market as it has been the tool to drive the sale of both the main product and free product.

It will be interesting to see what the consumer call it but right now i feel it will pay of and will surely bring lots of customers as its really innovative.

Unforgettable Bhopal Gas Tragedy…………

Who was the culprit? Whether to blame Government or Machinery? I will not answer these complicated questions. I will write for the people who are still paying for the mistake they never made. People of Bhopal who suffered and lost their families are sill waiting to get justice. Compensation can not bring back their family, cannot return them 25 years which otherwise might have been happy days not these tearful days waiting for the justice.

I would say that now we demand justice for the lost of families and 25 years that cannot be fulfilled by compensation. There should be several steps taken to ensure that people feel that their wounds have been cured. I suggest

1.One of each family member should be given a job in government companies or PSU as it is done for those who die at borders or terrorist attacks.

2.25 years earlier who want to be doctor or engineer was not not able to continue there education because their father dies and all responsibility came to his shoulders and was unable to finish off his education. So Government needs to pay for the education of their children as their father were not able to get that due to family responsibility.

I feel these measures will be better than compensation as you cannot compare the value of money today with 25 years earlier.

There should be several steps taken to ensure that it do not happen again.

1.No allotment of such plants near residential area.

2.Regular check of the machinery.

3.Strict checking of many layers before passing the parts to be used in the plant.

You must be thinking that why i am blaming the government when this incident was a mistake of the machine. Let me tell you that from one year before that tragedy night, many times the gas leaked and many workers were affected but neither the company nor the government took any step, and when it occurs they blame the company and rescue the owner out of Bhopal to save themselves.

In the end i will say that we don't want answers any more we want justice which definitely not the compensation

Google SMS Channel - An Innovtion

Google SMS Channel is good for both creator and subscriber. It is a free service by google and user oriented.

Let us first talk about creator of the channel. He gets a chance to send alert to all its subscriber free of cost. This help to bring traffic to there site, like telecom.info gives information about happening in telecom space. So it the subscriber likes the alert topic he will surf threr site means generating more revenues.

The subscriber gets update about things he like. He is a job seeker then he can get the walkin details and off campus details on his mobile phone. This will of a great help to him.

This way i feel that its a innovative idea for the nation where everyone is mad about mobile and google once again prove that why google wins all the wars of internet.

Hotmail On SMS

Hotmail's new feature helps to get the alert of mails on our mobile for free without any GPRS. It also give facility of replying to those by SMS. We will be charge only for what SMS we do and not for we recieve.

I feel its the good step taken to compete with Ymail and Gmail but too late. Gmail with innovative ideas lead the market of email in India while former no.1 yahoo is now no2. Both Gmail and Ymail captures 65% market of email in India. No3 is captured by rediff, no.4 by hotmail and then 5th spot by In. Therefore hotmail need to bring more innovation and aggresive campaign to get the market share.

But i don't see that to happen soon as Microsoft launches of Security Essential and Office Online has been outside India and has entered the Indian market after sometime. Bing, MS Search Engine, has not got any publicity in India and still many are not aware of it. By looking at this we can get the indication that Microsoft is not interested in Indian Online market and hence any aggresive move by them is still very far and will tae time.

India is the country which use to live on Yahoo and Google, now on Google, Facebook and Yahoo. It is very difficult for MSN to find a place in Indian market where local web companies like rediff, network18, times group, infoedge, etc. are not impactable and focus on a specific one type of service. Most of them earn through Google Adsence and hence US web companies has a great impact on them.

Still i will say that hotmail on sms is a good service and if hotmail continue such innovative and customer oriented steps, they have a chance of winning a huge market share.

Save Earth, Save All

Today i read that after 20 years there will be no water in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. And its not the first news, there are such news all around the globe and mankind existance is in danger. If we do not take steps to cotrol them then we will be in trouble.

When at night i run my AC on 26 degree, all my family think what has happened to me i told them that i am infected ie Green Infection. I am taking steps to save Earth:

1. Made a carry or yard outside my house to plant trees and to collect the rain water so that it can enter the soil and restore.

2. Kept my lawn muddy so that rain water is not evaporated but gets into the soil and restore underground water.

3. Plant trees as they are the cure for all environment problems. They are best weapon to fight against all polutions. I have planted mango tree in my society park which is very green thanks to the gardner who work there and maintain it.

4. I love flowers so my house stairs are full of such flowers and also my yard full vegetables palnts and Fruit trees.

5. I save electicity as most of the carbon emission is due to power production. I switch off extra lights and do not keep TV and Computer switched when not required.

6. I prefer walking and public transport as vehicle emission is also a major source of carbon. By using city bus we reduce the emission from my bike which otherwise pollute the environment.

7. I get pollution check of my bike regularly.

I will suggest that please plant a Tree as one tree exale enough oxygen for a family of four.

Saving Environment also helps in saving money as a clean and healthy environment save money spent on Doctor's bill and plants provide you healthy fruits and vegetables which are fresh. I am doing and wish you all will also do and will make "Earth a Better Place to Live".

17 Again

We always regret decions we make in our life feeling that life might have been better if i had took a better decision. Movie 17 Again says the same. It explains the fact that the decions we took at that time is the best and there is no need for any change.

The movie explains it in a very interesting way by the story of a boy whose age is 17 and he is the basket ball team. Now he had to choose between career and girl friend and he choose his girl friend. Then it shows that he cry for next 20 years that he made the wrong choice. God gives him the chance to return back to 17 take admission in the same school and be the part of the team. Again the same situation comes and he realise that he made the right decision by choosing his girl friend and think it to be the best of his life.

This explain that whatever we have done in the past was the best that we could at that moment and we should just think about moving ahead in life and looking back to feel bad about what we did. Trust in God(so that you do not choose any illigal way) and yourself(self satisfacetion is important) and move........ move ............ never turn back because what ever you have done was the best

Windows out, MAC in at Google Offices

Google has finally started the war with microsoft by banning windows and using Apple MAC at all its offices around the world. The reason given is security. As most popular OS - Windows has to face more attack than any other OS. Recently many organisation has switched to Lixus which is free and very secure to use for Internet and Networking applications.

Apple has responded by saying that they will not replace google in there iPhones by any other search engine.

Now will be interesting to see what is the move of Microsoft.

Ab Mera Number Hai

India is one of the fastest growing country. For growth we require money. But Most Indian lives in rular area (nearly 70%) so sources are very less. For developing the rural India we require to have connectivity and that can be achieved by providing a proper telecommunication and broadband network.

As India never had landline revolution and directly entered Mobile revolution, in the same way we hope that it do not have any internet revolution, gets direct entry into broadband revolution. Now every man has mobile as its so cheap and network available in 60% of country land. Hope that broadband also become so cheap and infrastructure is available in every corner of the nation.

BWA ie Wireless Broadband Access which is based on 4G and to private playes will buy it so will become a strong medium to reach the general public at low cost and iniciator of Broadband Revolution. So whole nation can say "Ab Mera Number Hai".

Videocon out of race for BWA

An Videocon official has said that Videocon, which do not have any foreign partner and still to roll out its pan India 2G, is no longer bidding for BWA. As BWA is also cross the limit and is very expensive. They also didn't won 3G spectrum. They have decided to work on there 2G services as they have 2.75G ready network for fast internet through GPRS/EDGE technology. Will deliver cheaper service to attract more customers to there 2G services. They are also looking to sell curtain stake of the company.

Uninor on the EDGE of becoming the best 2G operator

Uninor annoucement that will provide internet at 384kbps on 2G network through GPRS latest technology EDGE and will compete with all 3G operators using its cheper tarrifs on 2G network.

Uninor which operate on TataQuippo towers as it do not have its own is bringing new tarrifs plan and also understood the needs of the indian consumers. They are innovating in the field on tarrif with "Variable Discount" tarriff which gives discount raging from 5% to 50% depending on the tower and time of call.

Its also ready to reduce more as it do not have 3G licence and needs to attract the consumer which may be a tough task to do as all are getting crazy about 3G and handset are available as cheap as Rs.5000. It will good to look forward what all cheper tarriff it brings to stay in the race.

Politics - A Family Affair?

When i see present politicians i find most of them coming from old political background. Its make me think that whether the politics has become such a family affair.

Its always easy to find the place in the party if your parents are at high post in them but difficult to make a place by working for the people. Such family touch is the loss for general public.

Politician also become richie rich leaving the general public in hunger and the state poor asking world bank for loan. This also opens the door for next generation to enter into politics as they treat it as the family bussiness and they want to earn money from politics which is easiest occupation for them as it do not require any special degree or knowledge.

Politcis has been losing the touch with common people and gaining urban-centric place. Now main issues have moved from "supplying cheaper items to common man" to "better GDP and mobilr connectivity".

Since the people entering into politics are from rich family background they know how to do business and increase GDP but they don't undrstand the common problem of common man. They know that Mumbai is hot and they haven't experienced it as they are habitial of sitting in ACs.

Such family which dominate political parties are just harvesting what was seeded by their parents. This way they may get richer and earn lots more but will never be able to understand differnce between Politics and Business i.e. Social Work Vs Work for Earnings.

Therefore there should be fare and tranparent way of choosing the party leader and should end this family affair.

Virgin Mobile GSM start up kit is very expensive

“Virgin a mobile service for youth”. This may not long stay the same as Reliance is gaining that place with cheapest tarrif and sms packs. Virgin GSM which was launched two days back in UP(E) is expensive. As there startup kit is of Rs 51 with Rs 5 talktime and 1 year 1p/sec tariff for 365 days. It also include the gain of 10p/min for incoming. This gain is no use when you require a big amount for startup service.

They should have worked on attracting new customer before they look at the earning side. Vigin should have given the GSM with all these pack for Rs 10 with Rs 10 talktime. Means getting paid for incoming and 1p/sec is of no cost for the customer. As it gets a huge number they will gain more. Get paid for incoming is exclusive initiative of Virgin and should be for lifetime and not for 90 days period.

If Virgin wants to be popular among youth, they are required to be cheapest and should understand youth needs more of SMS packs, get paid for incoming and unlimited call packs. If these all packs are available then Virgin may become leading mobile service in Lucknow.

OpenID - An innovation

First let me explain you that OpenID is the open, decentralised user authentication. By using OpenID we can access many sites without remembering all id and password. That one OpenID can be ur one true login. OpenID authenticate user without sharing his password with other sites.

Today when i was looking at all the providers of OpenID i found most of them from USA and not a single from India. Its true that this concept came from US but now India bring lots of innovation in the field of web with many R&D centers and web startups. So i hope that Indian web companies like Rediff and Sify will also bring their OpenID.

OpenID is an innovative concept but not that widely use because it lack in services. Most of the sites i use are providers of OpenID but do not allow other OpenID to access their services. Like bloggers allow us to use blog link as OpenID but to login we require Google account. So where to use these IDs is a big trouble and the organisation should bring new services.

Even this open a door for startups which can make these services (blog, social network, movies, job portal etc) available by using an OpenID (not by creating an account on there website).
