Vodafone leads UP(E) with 43% market share

In UP(E) we have several GSM players include Vodafone, Airtel, Idea, Aircel, Tata Docomo, Reliance, BSNL and Uninor. I still remember that when Reliance launched its CDMA in Rs 501, everyone wants to have one as we never thought that mobile can be as cheap. On that time we do not know what is GSM and CDMA. We only know "mobile". Then with the launch of BSNL we all ran thinking its sarkari i.e. cheap and also we were habitual of BSNL landlines.

After one month we saw BSNL GSM going out of stock and people decided to search for a different player and ended search with a HUTCH gsm. Since hutch was loosing its place in rest of India, sold its stake to Vodafone and we saw world's top telecom company entering the Indian market.

Since then Vodafone leads UP(E). Even with launch of Reliance cheapest call rates and sms pack Vodafone leads with 43% and Airtel follows with 19%. Relaince, Uninor and Docomo are leading its way in UP due to cheap tarrif which claims top stop among students. So I hope Vodafone will bring better tariffs as only Zoozoo's Fan Club cannot be enough to gain revenues.
